Description of the trip
Day 1_Welcome to Slovenia and Ilirska Bistrica workshop
In the afternoon after our arrival to Slovenia, our first stop is in Ilirska Bistrica. We will be welcomed by senior citizens from CLC. In the Restaurant Erna they will show show us how to make 'njoki' a traditional Slovenian food that originates from the inner part of the small country. They are similar to soft dough dumplings and usually eaten instead of pasta. We will eat our dinner at the same restaurant. The overnight stay will be in pension next to Ilirska Bistrica.
Day 2_Ilirska Bistrica–Predjama–Ljubljana–Ilirska Bistrica
After breakfast, we will leave our hotel and get to know Ilirska Bistrica then drive to an idyllic village of Predjama where you will be amazed by the fairy tale medieval Predjama castle with dramatic setting in the gaping mouth of a cavern halfway up a hillside. We will hear the story about the legend of Erasmus – the Slovenian Robin Hood. We’ll eat lunch and leave Slovenian karst then head for the Capital -Ljubljana where we will meet our local guide. The old town sits alongside the Ljubljanica River under an impressive Castle. We will visit the Castle with the funicular, climb the tower with the beautiful panoramic view and the virtual museum. We will descend the hill on foot and head to the old city center. Dinner, drive to Ilirska Bistrica to the same accommodation as previous day and overnight.
Day 3_Ilirska Bistrica and Piran
After Breakfast, we will leave the hotel and drive to the Slovenian coast to visit one of the most photogenic cities in the Mediterranean. Piran has preserved its unsurpassed charm and you will feel as if you have stepped right into a picture of a postcard. You will be charmed by the narrow streets within the old town walls. In the main square, you will be greeted by a statue of the most famous man in Piran, the well-known Giuseppe Tartini, composer and virtuoso violinist who was born in a house just steps from the square. Free time for lunch. We’ll finish our short visit to Slovenia and return to Italy. End of the program.
